Letter to the Editor - Thank law enforcement Sept. 16

Editor,

Please help me thank our local law enforcement Saturday, Sept. 16.

National Tell a Police Officer Thank You Day takes place Sept. 16.

The initiative has been started by the Whole Truth Project and Wives Behind the Badge, an organization with a mission to promote a pro-police message. It’s held every year on the third Saturday of September just like Festival Days.

Police officers risk their lives to protect and serve their communities. Chances are, at one time or another, a police officer has been there to assist you or a family member in a time of need. These men and women are the front lines of defense here at home. They never know what they might encounter when they call on duty each shift.

Talk to your friends, neighbors and co-workers about National Thank A Police Officer Day. If you own or manage a business, please consider doing something special for the officers in your community.

Buy them lunch, a cup of coffee, or give them some other token of your appreciation. Use your signage to get the word out now and when Sept. 16 comes use it to say “Thank you.”

So many organizations have already donated! Such as goodie bags for local law enforcement which include lip balm, hand sanitizer, hand warmers, mini note pads, black pens and on-the-go treats. This day falls on the same day as Havre Festival Days where our police officers will be working longer hours during the weekend and the parade to keep us safe.

Big thanks so far to Bear Paw Credit Union, Town Pump, Independence Bank, Triangle Communications, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Gary and Leo’s Fresh Foods, Boys & Girls Club, Lincoln-McKinley elementary, Big Sandy Kracklin Kamut and Big Equipment.

If you would like to donate please contact me or simply thank them.

Thank you!

Laura Eller
