MSU-N golfers compete in Helena

The second tournament of the season is now in the books for the Montana State University-Northern golf teams. The Lights and Skylights competed at the Carroll College Invitational Monday and Tuesday.

The Carroll tournament, which featured the Fighting Saints, Lewis-Clark State, Rocky Mountain College, Montana Tech and the University of Providence, was held at Bill Roberts Golf Course in Helena.

And the second tournament of the season was another strong one for Northern's Jenna Jensen, who fired rounds of 76-79 to finish in 10th place. The Skylights didn't have enough players for a team score, as only Megan Vandenacre and Diana Ball were aside Jensen in the field. Vandenacre shot 93-86 to place 29th and Ball shot 100-82 to finish 30th. Rocky won the women's team title.

On the men's side, the Lights finished in seventh place overall with a team total of 1,124. Devin Bray led the way with a 27th-place finish. Bray shot rounds of 73-78-73 for the 54-hole tourney. Jerod Boles finished with rounds of 88-77-80 to place 37th, while Ethan Partch shot 100-101-110 to finish 45th and Trent Noel came in at 46th with rounds of 108-111-125. RMC also won the men's team title.

The Northern golf teams finish their fall season at the Lewis-Clark State Invite next week.
