Hello God. It's me, Mara

Our amazing brain

You know, Lord, sometimes one comes across some very interesting reading. Author unknown mentioned that the blood of us humans makes a complete circuit every 23 seconds. Amazing! The author mentioned a few more of Your creations, Lord: the inside of a cucumber is often 20 degrees hotter than the surrounding air … a grasshopper can jump 2 fee … there is a separate silk strand for each kernel on an ear of corn … a flea is capable of moving weight hundreds of times heavier than himself … a camel can drink 25 gallons of water in a ½ hour!

Another author (unknown) told about the human brain — that it is the most complex instrument in the world. The brain, about the size of a grapefruit, weighs about 3 pounds. It’s composed of some 12 billion to 14 billion cells. To give some idea of what is going on continuously in the brain and spinal cord, imagine 1,000 telephone switchboards, each big enough to service a city the size of New York, all going at full speed, receiving and transmitting requests, questions and orders.  There are more electrical circuits in a single brain than in all radio and TV stations of the whole world put together! That’s a lot of wires and machinery.

If a man could build the electronic equivalent of the human brain, it would require a building three times the size of the Empire State Building to house it, all the power generated by Niagara Falls to run it and all the water of Niagara Falls to cool it. When it was completed this “compartment” wouldn’t even be able to decide whether you should have waffles or pancakes for breakfast.

Only you, Lord, could have put that much equipment into a such a small space as the human head! And because of that, Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Thank You, Lord.

Love, Mara
