Grief Poem - Holidays are near

Your picture’s near but you’re not here; it’s you we truly miss.

Just read a book ‘bout boy and girl — ‘bout how they loved to kiss.

Memories bounced back from long ago — our hearts then filled with bliss.

Your sparking eyes knew we were right — we’d not pass up a kiss.

You were “God’s Man” – then, fell asleep; God was right there with you.

Last words to me were oh, so sweet — it was as if you knew.

No one is ever really gone – they leave their mark on us.

When we are sad and all alone, we ‘feel’ your mark — a plus.

We know God works behind the scenes, He made just everything!

Our darling’s gone — he’s well and whole, God’s Praises we will sing!

It’s Autumn now, blue sky, white snow; weather does change each day.

Though darling’s gone, we’ve ‘stuff’ to do, ‘cause Winter’s on the way!

The Holidays are coming fast, you’re missed —that makes us sad.

We’re to rejoice, not stripped of Joy[1]; Christ’s coming makes us glad.

[1] John 16:22 [NLT] – So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, then you will rejoice and no one can rob you of that joy!
