From the courts: District Court

Box Elder woman sentenced for fourth DUI

A Box Elder woman received 13 months with the Department of Corrections and was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine for driving drunk for a fourth time.

In addition to the 13 months, Crystal D. Moreno, born in 1980, received Monday in District Court in Havre three years probation for felony driving under the influence, fourth or subsequent offense. Moreno’s sentence is part of a plea deal.

An officer approached Moreno Jan. 14, 2017, after she came to a hard stop by Second Street, partially blocking an alleyway. Moreno smelled of alcohol and her eyes were red, the officer reported.

When asked how much alcohol she had to drink, Moreno replied, “probably too much to be driving.” Moreno then gave the officer her car keys.

Moreno then took a series of field sobriety tests, the results of which led to her arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Moreno then told officers “she was guilty of drinking and driving,” court charging documents say.

Moreno has three prior driving under the influence convictions June 1, 2007, May 6, 2007, and Aug. 30, 2002.
