New Rocky Boy clinic to open Wednesday

After years of construction and planning, the Chippewa Cree Tribe of Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation will officially open a new health clinic for tribal members, a post on the clinic's website says.

The Havre Daily called tribal officials for comment but was unable to contact by printing deadline this morning.

The website says the clinic's equipment and staff is being moved from its location at 96 Clinic Road to its new location on Upper Box Elder Road.

The clinic will start seeing patients Wednesday at noon for all services, excluding lab work.

The new facility will house the tribe's dental, substance abuse, mental health, ambulance service and other medical programs.

Chippewa Cree Tribal Chair Harlan Baker said in January that the tribe's different health-related program staff have been moving into the new facility gradually.

He said that the tribe hoped to have all the tribe's medical program's offices in the new location by March.

The location on Clinic Road has served as the main health facility at Rocky Boy since the clinic it opened in about 2008 was damaged beyond repair by 2010 flooding. The flooding in that year, as well as 2011 and 2013, was declared a federal disaster.
