Choteau 58, Chinook 8

The Chinook Sugarbeeters took on the Choteau Bulldogs in Choteau Friday night with a berth in the 8-Man playoffs on the line. However, the Beeters, the third-place team from their sub-divison, fell short and were routed by the Bulldogs 58-8. It was the second straight loss for Chinook (4-4) which can still qualify for the playoffs with a win this week over Chester-Joplin-Inverness (Saturday 7 p.m.) The winner of that game will earn the fifth and final spot from the Northern C.

Centerville 32, Chester-Joplin-Inverness 8

Just like Chinook, Chester-Joplin-Inverness had a chance to wrap up a playoff berth last Saturday on the road against Centerville. Yet four turnovers doomed the Hawks, who fell 32-8. CJI will now play Chinook this week for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Northern C.

Centerville grabbed a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, then added three more scores in the third quarter to go in front 26-0. It was 32-0 before Spencer Richter found the end zone on a 16-yard run by the Hawks to avoid the shutout. CJI (4-3) and Chinook (4-4) will meet Saturday night at 7 in a win-or-go-home matchup.

In another Northern C matchup, the Box Elder Bears closed out their season, on the road against Simms last Friday night. The two teams met in a cross-division battle within the Northern C, as each team finished sixth in its respective sub-division. Yet, this time around, Simms proved to be superior, knocking off the Bears 68-28.

Malta 51, Harlem 0

The Harlem Wildcats had two home games and two chances to get in the win column before the end of the season, but last Friday, in the first opportunity against Malta, the Wildcats fell short by the score of 51-0. Harlem (0-6) will close the season this Friday, in a home game against Conrad.

Hays-Lodge Pole 46, Cascade 36

In another crossover matchup between Northern C teams Saturday, Hays-Lodge Pole paid a visit to Cascade Saturday and the Thunderbirds ended their season in style, notching a 46-36 win, giving HLP its first and only win of the season.

Fort Benton 64, Belt 18

The Fort Benton Longhorns opened the season with high expectations after missing the playoffs by just one game a season ago, however, a 0-4 start doomed the Longhorns' playoff hopes. Yet with a 64-18 win over Belt this past Saturday, in Fort Benton, the Longhorns ended the season on a high note, winning four straight to finish 4-4.
