Northern harriers race hard in Idaho

The Montana State University-Northern cross country teams are nearing the end of the 2018 season. But this past weekend, the Lights and Skylights raced in one of the biggest meets of the season.

Northern was in Lewiston, Idaho, for the Inland Empire Championships last Saturday. The meet, hosted by Lewis-Clark State, is one of the top meets in the northwest, and featured a host of NCAA Division I schools.

The Skylights took 15th place. The Skylights ran a 5K with 156 runners. The team had a total time of 104:57. The Skylights were led by Rachel David who took 75th place with a time of 19:35. Carlee Brown crossed the finish line in 90th place coming in at 20:26. Raini Jonson had a time of 21:01 coming in 101 place.

The Lights took 17th place in Lewiston. The Lights ran an 8K with 171 runners. The team had a total time of 138:15.

The Lights were led by Isiah Runs Above taking 83rd place with a time of 26:53. Luke Karnauskas crossed the finish line in 96th place with a time of 27:26. Field Sooloff had a time of 27:40 coming in 100th place. Amos Taiswa came in 102nd place running at 27:46. Beau Hyatt finished the race in 107th with a time of 28:32. Liam Baez-Terry finished 109th, as Kai Krumwiede took 110th place.

Northern wraps up the regular season at this Friday’s UM-Western Invitational in Dillon.
