Multiple options for raising pledges for Polar Plunge

The annual SubZero SuperHero Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympians is set for this Saturday and there are many ways for community members to contribute.

People participating in the plunge must raise a minimum of $125 to be eligible for the incentives, a flier for the Polar Plunge states. Incentives include:

• a Polar Plunge long sleeve shirt ($125)

• beanie cap ($250)

• stainless steel bottle and shirt ($500)

• sweatshirt and T-shirt ($1,000)

• a long sleeve T-shirt, beanie, stainless steel bottle and sweatshirt ($1,500)

• corn hole set and T-shirt ($2,500)

• Amazon Echo and T-shirt ($5,000)

There is a Pee Wee Plunge for kids 7 and younger. Kids can slide or jump into the attached mini-pool.

Plungers can form a group called a Cool School team with their fellow students and faculty to help raise pledges. A statement from the flier promoting the Cool School team said “What is better than plunging into freezing cold water during our Montana winter? Throwing your classmates and teachers in with you!”

The Cool School team is for students, teachers, coaches and administration and each team must raise a minimum of $50 per plunger.

For the more daring, plungers who raise $1,000 will have the option to be a Super Plunger. Super Plungers who meet the required pledge amount can take the plunge five times on the day of the event.

People who wish to raise pledges, but not take the plunge can do so. The flier said participants can “register as a chicken, raise pledges and receive incentives just like a regular plunger.”

Community members can pick up pledge forms at the Havre Police Department and are asked to bring their pledges with them on the day of the plunge to receive their incentives.

Money from the fundraiser helps support athletes in the Montana Special Olympics.

The SubZero SuperHero Polar Plunge is Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the Havre Town Square. Registration is from 2 to 3:15 p.m.

Following the Polar Plunge, the Havre Chamber of Commerce invites families for Cookies and Milk with Santa at 4:30 p.m. at the Eagles Club. This event is free for all kids, who must be accompanied by a parent.

Also at 4:30 p.m. is the Santa Run. Participants are encouraged to dress up like Santa or Mrs. Claus and prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed and for the first-place finisher.

At 5 p.m., everyone is invited to follow Santa from the Eagles Club to Town Square for the lighting of the Christmas tree.
