Hi-Line Girls Basketball Rooundup

With the holiday break over, the 2020 portion of the girls basketball season began all over the Hi-Line last weekend.

Friday night, the Turner Tornadoes started a big weekend with a 59-24 non-conference victory over Dodson in Turner. The Tornadoes started the game on a 16-3 run, and got 17 points from Sarah Billmayer and another 12 by Shyan Krass in the win.

Friday night also saw Fort Benton pick up right where it left off before Christmas, as the Longhorns crushed Hays-Lodge Pole 69-47, while in another non-conference affair, the Big Sandy Pioneers fell to DGS 47-32 in Big Sandy. Lainey Gregory paced the Pioneers with 12 points. Also, in a key 9C showdown Friday night, the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks turned away the Chinook Sugarbeeters 47-40.

CJI made it a clean sweep on the first weekend of 2020 with a 54-47 win at Valier Saturday night. A 13-6 run in the third quarter helped the young Hawks hold on for the non-conference win. Tatum Hull scored 15 points for CJI, while Molly Nelson added 13.

In another non-conference affair Saturday, the North Star Knights stepped up to Class B, and had no trouble with the Conrad Cowgirls. The Knights beat the 1B stalwart 58-44, after leading 36-19 at halftime. Jade Wendland poured in 31 points for the victorious Knights.
