Local Golf Report: HHS golf nears its return

It was, and will be, a big week for local golf.

First and foremost, I want to wish coach Dennis Murphy, and all of the Havre High golf team good luck on their upcoming season. The Blue Ponies begin practice later this week, and kick off the regular season next week.

Obviously, Havre High golf is near and dear to my heart, as I coached it for five seasons. I’m truly going to miss Blue Pony golf, but, with Murph, and Dustin Haas, and all of our great kids, I know the program is in great hands, and I know the Ponies will have a great season! So good luck HHS golf.

Meanwhile, the playoffs for women’s league at Prairie Farms are in full swing.

In the second round of the playoffs last week, Goodrich Excavation defeated Patrick Construction and Prairie Farms beat DA Davidson. The championship round will be this Thursday night at Prairie Farms.

Speaking of Blue Pony golf, former HHS standout Theron Peterson was low gross last Tuesday night in Men’s League at Prairie with a 37. Dave Herman was low gross, while CHS Big Sky scored 20 points to take high-team honors.

Last Wednesday night saw Master Sports take high team, while Jordy Donovan was low gross with a stellar 33, and Chris Mattson was low net with a 33.

A reminder to all, as the playoffs consitnue, please send me your results, but also photos of the winning teams from men’s and women’s leagues at both Prairie Farms and Beaver Creek Golf Course.
