Blaine County Fair wrapped up Sunday

The 2023 Blaine County Fair wrapped up Sunday after a week of rodeos, 4-H events, food and music, and attendees seemed to have good things to say this year.

While this year's fair was mostly the traditional lineup of events, one of its centerpiece attractions, the demolition derby, was replaced with a concert by country music writer and singer Darryl Worley.

Outside of that the fair featured its usual 4-H events and with animal shows, as well as a carnival and fair food provided by organizations like the Lions Club, Eagle's Club and the local Veterans of Foreign Wars selling corn dogs, burgers and more.

Fairgoer Amy Chen said she'd never been to the fair before, as she just happened to be in town visiting a friend, but she really enjoyed the food.

"The burgers were great," she said. "Like, really really great."

But it wasn't just newcomers who were impressed.

Perry Alcorn, who's lived in the area for 50 years, said he always comes to the fair, and this year's was a good one, even if he didn't get to see all of it.

"It's been good, really good from what we saw of it," Alcorn said.

Another fairgoer, and participant, was Marija Hansen, a member of the committee that organized the professional rodeos Thursday and Friday who also attended the fair Sunday.

Hansen said the fair was a little different this year without the demolition derby, but, for her committee, 2023 was a good year.

"It went awesome," she said. "We had record-setting crowds, new stock contractors, it was a great year."
