Grief Poem - Missing Them

Just thinking, Lord, of some dear friends, who've simply gone ahead.

Meaning family, neighbors and pals, they left us - joined the dead.

We've fond memories of these dear ones and what they did while here;

One Granddad did construction work; built 'much' within each year.

A neighbor gal just loved to sew; she made most lovely quilts.

Her garden too, a specialty, she never let it wilt.

A Valley farm raised several kids; four kids just loved to sing!

Played keyboard or stringed instruments - they were brilliant offspring!

Then, grandma dear, a special cook - where neighbors loved to dine;

After the guys checked the live-stock including the nine swine.

One bachelor guy, hoped he'd live long; like Psalm 90, verse four.

His grandpa lived past 88, then flew "above" to tour.

He thought he'd live to 70, God gave a 'few' more years'....

He worked real hard, he did his best, and then his kin shed tears.

A neighbor liked verse number 12; "number our days ... ," a phrase;

She taught their kids: "Be glad, rejoice, and always give God praise."

These friends now gone - and they are missed; each was a special friend.

They knew the Lord and where they'd go, when their life here would end.

Verse 17 - "... and let the Lord, favor us with success."

Establish the work of our hand, establish it upon us.
