HHS girls finish second at state swimming

It was a banner day for the Havre High girls swim team Saturday as the Blue Ponies brought home a trophy from the Montana State Swimming Championships.

Saturday in Great Falls, Havre wound up finishing second in the Class A trophy race, as head coach Jill Cammon's team had an awesome finals day.

Havre senior Britton Elliot stole the show as she won a pair of individual Class A state gold medals Saturday. Elliot won both the 40-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle at the state meet, which catapulted Havre into a second-place finish by the end of the meet.

Elliot also anchored Havre's 200 free relay team, which, along with Elizabeth Carroll, Miriam Carroll and Olivia Erickson, took second. The HHS girls also got a third-place finish in the 400 free relay, while Elizabeth Carroll also took second in the 100 backstroke. Those points also moved Havre up the leaderboard, although the Ponies couldn't quite catch Billings Central.

On the boys side, Havre didn't get a place in the trophy race, but Koby Preputin did place third in the 100 backstroke for HHS.

Billings Central swept the team titles in the A-B meet.
