Ice Hawks play well in home state tournament

The Havre Ice Dome is one of the best hockey venues in the Treasure State, so it was only fitting that it played host to the 2024 Treasure State League High School State Tournament.

And the Havre Ice Hawks were the hosts this past weekend.

On the opening day of Pool Play, the Ice Hawks went 1-1, with a 5-3 loss to Billings, and a 2-1 win over the Missoula Bruins.

In Saturday's crossover game, the Ice Hawks lost to Bozeman 6-3. Jacob Herring and Ciaran Courtnage each scored first=period goals, while Fallen Stoner added a third-period goal, before Bozeman pulled away with two goals of their own.

Havre's final game of the tournament would come on Sunday when the Ice Hawks fell to Flathead 7-4. Rhett Wertheimer scored early for the Ice Hawks, while the Fusion put up four goals in the second period. Wertheimer scored two more goals in the third period and David Emge added a back of the net shot in Havre's final game of a strong season.

In the championship game Sunday, Bozeman defeated Missoula 8-1.
