Verploegen to play at University of Mary

She's been working towards this goal for a long time. And while her final season of girls fastpitch softball in high school is just getting started, Havre Blue Pony Elle Verploegen now knows exactly what she'll be doing with her collegiate career.

Last week, Verploegen, a senior at HHS, signed to play softball at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Verploegen is a four-year varsity player for the Blue Ponies, of head coach Tony Vigliotti. She's been the starting pitcher the last two seasons, and is one of the top pitchers in Class A heading into this season. She also plays multiple positions in the field for the Ponies, and is a top hitter.

Verploegen has been a three-sport athlete at HHS, also participating in basketball and volleyball over the years.

Now though, she'll continue her career in softball at Mary. The school is an NCAA Division II member competing in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
