Busy weekend hits area

Havre and surrounding communities have a lot going on over the weekend, starting Friday, enough that they deserve a highlight so people can plan ahead to fit as much into their schedule as possible.

Along with the following events, an additional happening of note includes the Friday deadline for registering for Rocky Boy Health Center’s Basketball Tournament, for boys and girls in junior high and high school. To register people can contact [email protected] or 406-395-1701.

Friday, April 19

• Set Free Church Revival, 6 p.m., at the church, 740 2nd St., with guest speaker Gangster Preacher Isaiah Blancas and musical guest hip-hop duo Broken Chainz.

• “Outside Mullingar,” a Montana Actors’ Theatre production, 8 p.m., at MSU-Northern’s Little Theatre. Doors and Backstage Lounge open at 7:30 p.m.

• Discovering the Glory of God, a Montana Aglow event, starts Friday evening and runs to Sunday noon at the Community Center at Great Northern Fairgrounds, with guest speaker Gail E. Craig. Pre-register online at http://www.montanaaglow.org or call 406-860-5920 or 406-671-1987.

Saturday, April 20

• Spring Havre Community Cleanup, 10 a.m., at Town Square.

• Spring Art Show and Craft Fair, with Havre Art Association and more, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., downstairs in the Atrium Mall.

• Hands on History, a learning experience for the whole family, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line, 500 1st Ave. Open to everyone, but geared for youth 4-12, with hands-on historical activities including spinning wool, history of train engines, laundry by hand, gold panning, playing in a tin pan band, an interactive exhibit about the dinosaur Zuul found near Havre, and more. Attendance is free, but donations will be welcomed.

• North Central Montana Hot Rods Indoor Car Show, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Holiday Village Mall, with prizes for participants. Cost of event is $5 for general admission, and free for children under 12. Vehicle registration forms can be found at most local tire and auto parts, repair and customization shops.

• Gold Star Memorial public dedication, 11 a.m., at Town Square. The public is invited to attend this event, sponsored by Bullhook Blossoms Garden Club and Havre Lions Club.

• 39th annual Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited Banquet, doors open 5:30 p.m., dinner starts 6:30 p.m., at Havre Ice Dome, 2585 5th Ave., with an all-you-can-eat walleye and baron of beef dinner, prizes, auctions and fun activities. Tickets are available at Stromberg’s Sinclair, Bing ’N’ Bob’s, Ezzies in Big Sandy and Blaine County Journal or from board members.

• Soup-N-Bread lunch, noon, Eagles Club, with all-you-can-eat of a variety of soups and breads, $5. Proceeds support Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary, Legion Riders and Jaycees club charities.
