Hill County Commision declaring flooding emergency

Updated 1:44 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024

Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson said during the commission's business meeting this morning the commission was declaring an emergency due to flooding on Beaver Creek.

He said this is not a disaster declaration at this point, just an emergency.

He said the county is collecting information about the damages from the flooding, which he said is likely to continue for several days, and encouraged members of the public to submit photos and information on when and where the photo was taken.

The public can upload photos of flooding to a Disaster and Emergency Services page on the Hill County Health Department website at https://form.jotform.com/241285305353048, or use a QR code attached on this entry on Havre Daily Chronicle.

Up to three areas can be uploaded with multiple photos allowed per entry.

Peterson asked that people provide as much information as possible as to the date and time the photos were taken and the exact location, with gps data helpful if available.

The page says “Photo Submissions for County owned Property (Roads, Bridges, Culverts, etc.)

“We request your assistance in providing photos and location information regarding the ongoing flooding in Hill County. Your contributions will greatly aid our efforts in accurately assessing the extent of the flooding.”

Peterson said flooding is reported at Beaver Creek Golf Course and at Evergreen Campground off of U.S. Highway 87, but no residences on the creek had reported flooding as of 10 .m. today.
