The Big Sandy Pioneers had a chance to win their first Class C Six-Man state football championship. The Hot Springs Savage Heat had other ideas. Saturday in Hot Springs, Big Sandy fell victim to a Savage Heat offensive onslaught as the Pioneers lost 77-0 in the Six-Man championship game. Hopt Springs scored 49 points in the first half and had running clock tyhe rest of the way.

Hot Springs, which won its first state championship with its win over Big Sandy, finished 12-0 on the season, and the Savage Heat averaged 73 points per game for the year. Astonishingly, Hot Springs surrendered just 6 points per game on defense for the season.
Big Sandy finished the year with an 11-2 record. In a four-year stretch, the Pioneers advanced to the Six-Man semifinals or better each year.
