A head-on collision at 6 p.m. Thursday on Laredo Road in Hill County killed one person.

A 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck was eastbound on Laredo Road when its driver crossed the center line into a 2001 Chevrolet pickup's path, Montana Highway Patrol reports.

The driver of the 2001 Chevy attempted to avoid the crash by driving into the eastbound lane, but a head-on collision occurred.

The 1991 Chevy rotated clockwise 180 degrees, coming to rest in the westbound lane.  The other vehicle came to rest upright in the south ditch.

The FBI is the lead law enforcement agency on the crash and is conducting a death investigation, Debbie Dujanovic Bertram, FBI public affairs specialist out of the Salt Lake region in Utah, confirmed.

Names have not been released.
