Philip, Celia and Araminta will give Havre theater-goers plenty of reasons to laugh during Montana Actors' Theatre's production of "The Philanthropist."

Curtains to the six-scene comedy go up at 8 tonight through Saturday to reveal a cast of teacher-professor-type characters, director Mike Palmer said.

"It's a well-written play," he said.

"It's verbal humor and Brad (Wagner) does an excellent job on his character of (Philip)."

Celia, played by Megan Quintero, is Philip's love interest.  Even though the two are engaged, they have issues.

Enter Araminta, played by Alyssa Bosch.

"She's more of a promiscuous type," Palmer said.

The action takes place in Philip's apartment, from which the audience views the interactions of the group of friends.

Though written 40 some years ago, the quips in the play are still applicable today, Palmer said.

"It is funny as long as you catch it.

It's all words.  The humor is all in the conversation," he said.

The box office to the theater in Cowan Hal l on Montana Stat e University-Northern's campus opens at 7:30 p.m. each night.
