The 2012 Frontier Conference football season came to an end on Saturday – for all but two teams.

Both the Montana Tech Orediggers and Southern Oregon Red Raiders will play on in the 2012 NAIA playoffs, starting this Saturday. SOU moved up to No. 10 in the final NAIA Coaches Poll after thrashing Tech Saturday in Ashland, Ore. The win gave the Red Raiders a share of the Frontier crown, while Tech still earned the league’s automatic bid. Tech fell to No. 14 in the final poll, dropping seven spots, while Carroll College finished at No. 21. Rocky Mountain College also received votes in the last poll of the season.

Carroll’s Chance Demarais was named Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week. In his final college game, Demarais rushed for 216 yards on 46 carries in a win over Dickinson State. SOU linebacker Kalii Robinson was named Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. In the win over Tech, Robinson recorded 12 tackles and one sack. RMC kicker Nick Knell was named Special Teams Player of the Week. In a win over MSU-Northern, Knell kicked two field goals.

Lewis-Clark State’s P.J. Bolte was named Frontier Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Westminster College’s Nicole Yazzie earned the women’s honor. MSU-N’s Devin Jackson was also nominated for the men’s award this week.
