Irene D. Miller, 79, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at a Havre care center of natural causes.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Alfred Ebel officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship
will be held at the church immediately after the services at the graveside.
Irene was born on March 22, 1924, in Glasgow to Matthew and Margaret (Wisch) Voss. As a young girl, Irene attended schools in Rudyard and Cottonwood. She graduated from Chinook High School in 1943. After completing high school, Irene went to work in Havre for an auto dealership as a secretary/receptionist.
She met J.H. (Junior) Miller and the couple were married on Nov. 23, 1946, in Glasgow. They made their home in Havre for a short time, until they moved to Shelby, Dillon and then Great Falls, while he worked for a construction company. The family returned to Havre in 1950 when Junior began working for the railroad as a truck driver. Irene went to work for Culligan Water Company in 1976 and worked there as the bookkeeper for 10 years.
Irene enjoyed sewing, crocheting, genealogy, gardening and canning. For many years, she taught Sunday School and Bible School at St. Paul Lutheran Church . She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, serving as their secretary for a time. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, J. H. (Junior) Miller in 1993; and one brother, Alfred Voss.
Survivors include her children, Judy Bricker of Havre, Bill Miller of Great Falls and Kate Miller and her husband Gary Swanson of Butte; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
