I'm back, so you know what time of the year it is. I hope you had a great summer and are ready for the new bowling season.
All the lanes are working, all the foul lights are working, so some of you may wish to trim your toenails now, because you will not be able to get away with what you did last year. It looks like this will be another good year for Hi Line Lanes, with "Elfin" Gary coming back for one more season. Pin chasers are Cody Thompson, Mike Wilson, Blake Murray, and Nick Bowen. Lots of experience will help to solidify a smooth operation of the lanes. Just remember, if a breakdown occurs, patience is a virtue and accidents do happen.
Desk workers include Martin Jager coming back again, Kyle Fanning or as his Canadian friends call him, "Spindle," Andrea Belcourt, Janet Robinson, and Alicia Walin. All will join Gary as desk helpers. Chris Drew, Trisha Keeler, and Shawn Solomon return as beverage servers. Michele Evans and Randi Long will be helping out with serving duties and bartenders include Michelle Coffman, Mike Wilson, Netti Chambers, and Christina Olson.
Ken Brubaker will be drilling balls at the lanes, and it's good to see him back. Appointments will be necessary so call the lanes at 265-5885 for dates and times.
The ladies bathroom has had a major overhaul and Gary wants to thank Lorin Teske and Russ Boucher for all their help with the new floor. Gary also thanks his daughters, Signe and Sonja, for helping with the beautiful paint job in the restroom.
The broken down steps in front are gone and the planters will add a nice touch once the plants get established.

We hit the "maples" last Thursday morning and the women started last night. Both mixed leagues will begin tomorrow night and Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday start next week.
YABA will be holding their registration Sunday, Oct. 10, from 2 to 4. The leagues are scheduled to begin Oct. 24th. I will try to keep you posted on these dates.
If you haven't heard, the merger went through. Men, women, girls, boys, and USA Bowling are now one big happy family. What these changes mean for us is still unclear as I do not see our local associations merging for some time. I do know we must sign a letter of intent to join the new USBC or we will no longer be members. Anyone wishing to keep track of what's going on can go to www.bowl.com.
Records are made to be broken and a 46 yr. old one bit the dust by 76 pins. The "Budweiser" team set the record at 3858 in 1958. The new one is 3934 by the Limo Exchange from Delaware. The unknowns shot scores of 716, 792,712,878, and 836. I would have loved to have been the "low" man with a 712!
Apple Brown has a b-day today! Lana Herman and Sue Galle add ones tomorrow and Teresa Brown gains one the 13th. Belated to Kathy Moran and Liane Jorday the 1st and Marcia Durward and Leah Noel the 5th. If you do not want your b-day wishes here contact me as soon as possible.
It is the beginning of the season, please be patient, it's confusing. High scores and league information will be running behind until everyone gets it together but they will be here as soon as possible.
Bonita Griggs shot a 198,491 and Lynette Harada a 189, 491 Thursday morning. The rest of us got done! Harvest States had the high series of 1671 and McLeans Grocery the high game of 627.
