Devon expansion requires new building

Devon Energy is building a new office building west of Havre because an increase in business has caused it to outgrow its old office. Herman Handstede of Devon said higher oil and natural gas prices have caused growth in Devon's exploration and well operation activities.

The new building is being constructed by Clausen & Sons of Havre.

Devon Energy, formerly Ocean Energy, operates about 800 wells in Hill, Blaine and Chouteau counties and is drilling more, Handstede said. The new office, expected to be completed about Christmas, will house 23 staffers, five of whom were hired in the last year. It will include a 16-seat training facility with capability for video conferencing and computer presentations.

Handstede said Devon will probably tear down the old office once the new facilities are complete.
