Warm weather heats up local golf leagues

As summer heats up, so too does the race for coveted playoff spots in men's league action at Beaver Creek Golf Course. This week marks the final week of the first half of the regular season, and the race for the top four is still very much up in the air.

Last week Shanty Bar took home high team on Tuesday night with 25.5 total points. Shanty Bar is composed of Tom Haas, Steve Johnstone, Scott McLean and Ed Barsanti. Trent Normandy and Steve Strand shared low gross for the night with 37. Murray Barkus earned low net with a score of 31.5.

On Wednesday night Stone Child College earned high team honors with 23.5 points. Playing for Stone Child were Frank Henry, Ed Stamper, Steve Galbavy and Larry Morsette. Jim Kato had low gross for the night after firing a 2-under-par 34, and Tom Adams earned low net honors with a 31.5.

The final Tuesday night of the regular season has Hi-Way Bar in first place with a substantial lead. Shanty Bar, Havre Laundry and Wagner Plumbing are in second through fourth place, respectively. Pizza Pro and the Shanty have byes this week.

Wednesday night standings have Stone Child College leading the way, followed by Michelob Light, Mariani Insurance, Valley Furniture and D.A. Davidson. Master Sports is out this week.

In Ladies' League action, Anderson-Schubert Agency took home top honors with 25 points with a team of Susie LaSalle, Maryann McLean, Judi Adams and Anna Toner. Becky Wimmer took home low gross with a 49, while Dorothy Dugdale grabbed low-net honors with a 34.

D.A. Davidson leads the standings with 81 points.
