GREAT FALLS - Charles "Chuck" Whitworth, 85, of Great Falls, formerly of Columbia Falls, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at a Great Falls nursing home.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at First Alliance Church, 10th Avenue South and 47th Street, with the Rev. John Reese offici-
ating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.
Chuck was born on Nov. 6, 1919, in Cooper, Texas, to William and Mary (Gwin) Whitworth. At the age of 6, he moved to Oilmont and later attended and later graduated from a boarding school in Thompson Falls. Chuck then moved to Havre, where he attended Northern Montana College. After his graduation he moved to Great Falls and worked for Braake Motors.
While living in Great Falls, Chuck met Peggy Ann Brown. They were married in Havre on Sept. 23, 1946. He resided in Havre, where he operated Whitworth Motors, a Willys Jeep dealership, as well as Modern Machine Works and Factory Homes. In 1985, he semi-retired to Whitefish. While living in Whitefish he operated the Tropical Snow business and Zip Leasing. In 2000, he moved to Columbia Falls, and he recently moved to Great Falls.
He was active in the Jaycees, American Cancer Society, SCORE, served on the board for Salvation Army in Havre, and was a volunteer lobbyist for the Montana Senior Citizens. He was an active church member.
He is survived by sons, Ron (Beth) Whitworth of Billings and Lowell Whitworth of Tacoma, Wash.; daughters, Dian (Bob) Lewallen of Norman, Okla., Judy (Evan) Vervick of Fairfield, Shawn Whitworth of Missoula; sisters-in-law, Barbara West of Great Falls and Lucille McQuaid of Burlington, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
