There was no shortage of scoring this past weekend in boys high school basketball, particularly at the Havre High gymnasium where the Box Elder Bears and Rocky Boy Stars lit up the Native American Classic.

The Bears rolled up 96 points in a win over Two Eagle River on Friday to start the tournament. Tyler Henry scored a game-high 35 points, including six three-pointers. Cousin Aaron Henry added 25 points and Steve Acra chipped in with 16 in the 96-66 win.

Also on Friday, Rocky Boy took advantage of a pair of technical fouls called during warmups and four three throws to start the game to notch a 69-53 win over Kainai, Alberta.

Charles Walking Child scored 28 points, and A.J. The Boy added 13 in the Stars' first win of the season.

Things didn't slow down on Saturday at the Classic as Box Elder scored an impressive 67-52 win over District 10C power Heart Butte.

The Bears jumped out to a 15-6 first-quarter lead and held the Warriors off the remainder of the game.

Acra led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points. Aaron Henry scored 15 points, Tyler Henry added 14 and Dustin Bacon added 11 in the win. Heart Butte was led Joseph Wagner's 13 points.

Rocky Boy also finished the weekend 2-0 with a 70-51 win over Two Eagle River. Walking Child led a group of four players in double figures with 20 points. A.J. The Boy and Nate Rock had 14 points each and Upton Whitford chipped in with 13 in the win.

District 9C preseason favorite Hays-Lodge Pole had two wins at the Southern Native American Classic in Billings. On Friday, the T-Birds held off a pesky Roberts squad 67-57.

Delaine Ariwite's 17 points and Robyn Doney's 16 points led a balanced Hays' attack. Steven Shambo had 14 points and Lance Brockie added 10 in the win.

Saturday's game wasn't quite as close for the T-Birds as they crushed Lame Deer 90-62.

Ariwite scored a game-high 21 points and Dwight Flansburg added 19, while Doney and Brockie had 13 and 11 points, respectively for Hays-Lodge Pole.

Elsewhere in 9C action, the KG KouGars grabbed a 47-33 win over Sunburst on Saturday in Sunburst.

The weekend wasn't quite as kind to the Big Sandy Pioneers, who dropped a pair of games.

Winifred knocked off the Pioneers 68-58 on Friday night in Winifred.

The Pioneers got 14 points from Kyle Danreuther, 12 from Justin Willis and 10 each from Chris LaBuda and Devin Genereux in the loss.

Big Sandy suffered its second loss of the weekend on Saturday night, falling 80-52 to Denton.

In Class B action, the Chinook Sugarbeeters lost a tough 70-62 game to Malta on Saturday in Chinook. After falling behind 15-5 in the first quarter, the Beeters rallied in the second quarter but couldn't seal the win.

Marty Birky scored 20 points and Adam Hayes added 15 in the loss.
