For the Havre High swim team, this past weekend's Bohn-Moerer Invitational offered a preview of the upcoming state swim meet - at least the Class AA swim meet.
With a loaded field of the top Class AA schools, the HHS girls squad finished a respectable seventh with 74 team points, while the boys struggled a little, finishing 10th with three team points.
The Pony girls were paced by the 'A' 200 medley relay of Rachel Hansen, Morgan Zimmer, Megan Reinke and Jessica Obrecht, which placed fourth with a time of 2:09.25.
In other relays: Hansen, Zimmer, Kyra Kaercher and Emily Kostelecky teamed to finish seventh in the 200 free relay, while Kostelecky, Kaercher, Reinke and Gen Geda teamed to finish ninth in the 400 free relay.
Individually, Hansen placed sixth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.60 and eighth in the 100 freestyle with a 1:01.53. Other placers include Zimmer with a third in the 500 freestyle, Mary-Beth Blankenship with a seventh in the 100 backstroke and Obrecht with a seventh in the 100 breaststroke. Kaercher placed eighth in the 200 backstroke and Reinke was ninth in the 100 backstroke.
For the boys, Havre had three relay teams finish in ninth place in their respective relays.
In the 200 medley relay, the team of Jordan Croft, Levi Filler, Kevin Friede and D.J. Stuker swam a 2:02.56. The team of Levi Filler, Friede, Michael Hauser and Jordan Magelssen finished ninth with a 1:49.06. Havre's other point came in the 400 freestyle relay as Croft, Hauser, Magelssen and Stuker teamed up to swim a 4:12.32.
Havre High will be off this weekend and will head to the Montana State Swimming Championship Meet on Feb. 11-12 in Great Falls.
