Despite soggy and rainy conditions that have seemingly signaled at least an interruption to Havre's ongoing drought, golf is still taking place at Beaver Creek Golf Course west of Havre. And the race to the end of the first half of the men's league season is coming down to the final two weeks.
This past week at BCGC, Bing N Bob's brought home high-team honors on Tuesday night. The team consisting of Howie Stromberg, Dick Bohn, Bill Evans and Dick Scharfe scored 24 points to lead the field. Steve Johnstone fired a 1-over par 37 to take home low gross for the night, while Mark Aageson earned low-net honors with a 29.
On Wednesday night, Valley Furniture scored 25 points to take home high team honors as well as make a huge leap up the standings. Valley Furniture is composed of Mike Purkett, Mike Evans, Bruce Normandy and Ed Barsanti. Purkett and Jim Kato tied for low-gross honors; each firing even-par rounds of 36. Bruce Normandy earned low net for the night.
Tonight marks the second to last night of the first half of the season. Hi-Line Drilling has a bye this evening and Raymond James is out on Wednesday.
