Reception tonight for Heydon and Shaw

Artitudes Gallery this month is hosting the work of artists Beth Heydon and Kris Shaw.

The gallery also is hosting its First Friday reception today from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is welcome and invited to come and support Heydon and Shaw, along with other talented artists.

Heydon is the 2005 recipient of the Havre Art Association's annual scholarship award, which will boost her down the path of pursuing a degree in graphic design. Heydon is in her fourth year at Montana State University-Northern.

She said she's looking forward to the day when she can employ what she has learned and "do my own thing" by creating art that is not an assignment.

In an effort to support the arts in Havre, Artitudes Gallery has joined forces with the Havre Art Association and is providing gallery space for a monthlong exhibit of Heydon's work. The focus of her show in the gallery is a selection of photographs she shot and developed. Her work in acrylic painting also will be on exhibit in the gallery.

Sharing the spotlight as a featured artist in July is Kris Shaw, one of the founders of Artitudes Gallery. Shaw is a very talented and distinctive artist who will be showing a large assortment of fine artwork in a wide range of mediums.

Asked to describe her artwork in one sentence, she said, "I do lots of stuff."

"It is difficult, at best, to list and characterize that woman's artwork with any justice," said Vince Woodwick, another co-founder of Artitudes. "One will simply have to see it in person to grasp it all."

The other co-founder of the gallery is Mary Nault.

Artitudes Gallery also wishes to announce it will host and provide gallery space, at no cost, to nonprofit groups or organizations that have an art show or exhibition to share with the community.

Artists wishing to sell their work can be accommodated, for a small fee. Interested people should contact Artitudes Gallery for more information.
