A Rocky Boy woman was killed in a vehicle crash Saturday while driving on a road east of Box Elder on Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation.
Tamera Lynn Turner, 43, was ejected from the Ford pickup she was driving eastbound on Upper Box Elder Road at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, Montana Highway Patrol Capt. Butch Huseby said today.
The investigation is ongoing, but Huseby said the Highway Patrol believes she was trying to negotiate a turn on the paved road when she lost control of the vehicle and it rolled about three times.
Turner was not wearing a seat belt, Huseby said.
"It's just a bad deal," Huseby said. "We may never know why she went off the road, but we're looking into it."
Turner was born in 1961 in Havre to Donna Mae and Richard Lee Turner Sr., both of Rocky Boy. She attended Rocky Boy schools before going to Intermountain High School in Brigham City, Utah, where she graduated.
Turner had worked as a dispatcher and jailer at the Rocky Boy Police Department.
She is survived by her parents, two sisters, a brother and a niece and nephew.
Her wake began Sunday afternoon at Rocky Boy Lutheran Church. The funeral will be held there at 10 a.m. Tuesday, followed by the burial at Rocky Boy Cemetery.
