After nonconference tournaments dominated local volleyball play, teams went back to conference matches this past weekend with varying results.
The Chinook Sugarbeeters continued their dominance of District 6C with a pair of conference wins. On Friday night, the Beeters rolled past the Big Sandy Pioneers 25-23, 25-21, 25-17 in Big Sandy.
Georgia Barber had nine kills and four blocks to pace the Beeters. Crystal Roseberry dished out 22 assists, while Gen Burkhartsmeyer had eight digs and three aces. Big Sandy was led by the trio of Naomi Williams, Shalayna Pearson and Shersteen Cline, who all finished with six kills apiece. Kacy Herron dished out 19 assists and three aces for the Pioneers.
On Saturday, Chinook rolled through another traditional 6C power defeating Sunburst 25-13, 25-15, 25-21 in Sunburst. Barber and Dawn Kellam had seven kills each, while Roseberry had 25 assists. Morgan Obie had a solid match with seven digs and five aces.
The Chester/J-I remained unbeaten in District 6C, scoring a pair of wins over Rocky Boy and Box Elder. The Hi-Line Hawks defeated Box Elder 25-8, 25-13, 25-13, while scores for the Rocky Boy were unavailable.
Elsewhere, the North Star Knights suffered a tough 25-13, 25-17, 16-25, 25-16 loss to 6C contender Valier on Thursday night in Valier. All-state player Aisha Snyder led Valier with 16 kills and eight assists in the match. North Star was led by Natasha Dyrland, who racked up seven kills, six digs and three blocks. Jourdon Han had seven kills, three aces and two blocks for the Knights.
Valier remained near the top of the 6C standings with an easy 25-12, 25-13, 25-18 win over Box Elder on Saturday. Snyder had six kills, six digs and three blocks. Box Elder was led by Helen Russette, who had 10 digs and six assists. Rokki Parker chipped in with eight blocks and five aces.
In Class B, the Harlem Wildcats suffered a 25-15, 25-11, 25-8 to Class B power Malta.
Leandra Thomas led Harlem with six kills, 11 digs and four blocks.
