Once again I would like to thank two members of my "WHAM" team for another five-hour shift. Thanks Susie Friede and Gwen Goar. Thanks also to Steve - I promise I'll give Susie back soon.
I hope I haven't "jumped the gun" when I say the bowling season is in full swing. Men's City will begin tonight and the Mixers started last Thursday night.
YABA will be having a season and registration is set for Oct. 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. Cards must be paid for at that time. You may also sign-up, if you are unable to that day, by contacting Chris at 265-5317. If neither of those work for you, show up the first day of league. Flyers will be sent home with you kids the week of Oct. 10th.
Women are now chartered with U.S. Bowling Congress and are now the Havre USBC WBA. The paperwork for YABA has also been sent in and within the month should also be chartered. I forsee no major changes. If you have not checked out the new awards flyers please do so,because a lot has been added. But, as of this year, you are only eligible for one each per season.
Women's City will be held the weekend of the Oct. 22-23. The team event will be bowled Oct. 18th, and on the weekend along with d/s. If you have conflicts with these dates, contact me ASAP. Last year's average will be used, if none, a 9-game for this season.
As stated last week, Hi-Line Lanes in now smokeless. There have already been numerous complaints but it is the law.
Leagues cannot vote on their own to allow smoking, you have no choice, you have no vote. I do want to warn the smokers - there is a delay of game rule - #11. This rule also pretains to anyone person or entire team who refuses to proceed with the game for any reason.
I suggest you turn off your cell phones and go to the bar on your time, not everyone elses. Yes, we are there to enjoy ourselves, but when the bowler you follow is throwing their second ball, you had better be ready to pick up yours. If we didn't like the sport, we wouldn't be there, but it's also nice to participate and leave at a reasonable hour.
Amy Preite celebrated a "big one" last Thursday and I missed her. Susie Freide has one the 7th and Fern Lohse gains one the 10th.
Nancy Morrell picked a 4-7-10; Lana Herman a 2-7-8; and Neva Miller a 3-7-10.
Christy Holden threw a 213, 557; Mark Schilling a 234; and Roy Hamilton a 595. Other scores were: Jackie Mayer and Karia Gerky 502s; Corrine DeVries 501; Mark Schilling 559; Roy Hamilton 226; Dave Wolf 568; Garcia Duran 222, 536; Shawn Burrington 233, 531; and Russ Boucher 530.
I hope now that the issues have been hashed out everyone can move on and have a good kegling season. Mine so far has been rotten, but I seem to show up each week, hope you do too. And until next week - enjoy!
