“Some people bowl because they like feeling satisfied, proud, and happy, and bowling allows them to feel a little of each!”

The Women's City Tourney began last night with the team event. Unofficial results are: Normans with a 2,374 and Crystal City with a 2,373. Doubles, singles, and team events will be bowled this weekend. Shift times are posted at the lanes and the cost is $15 per person, per event. All events are optional at a cost of $2.00.

Gary has scheduled a Budweiser No-Tap for Nov. 5-6 and Nov. 11-12. Eight pins are all you need, and shifts will be at 2:30, 4, and 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and 12:30 and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

The Juniors and Majors of YABA are scheduled to start their season this Sunday at 3:45 p.m. The Bantams and Preps will start Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. The PeeWees will have a six-week league beginning Saturday, Nov. 5, at 9:00 am. I would like to remind all of the parents - if your child's registration is not paid for prior to league, they will not be able to participate. There will be no exceptions.

The officers and directors of YABA held their fall meeting recently. Tournament dates have been set and will be here at least two weeks in advance.

As of a year ago, the Jerry Johnson Scholarship was dissolved and is no longer available. The board is working on a new scholarship and hope to have the information available very soon. In light of this, the no-tap tourney held over Thanksgiving weekend has been renamed “The Dewey No-Tap” in memory of a special guy, Dewey Sloan, who devoted many years to the youth bowling program.

The Sloan family has set up an account to buy the awards for "The Dewey." The officers and directors of our local youth program thank Karen and her family for their generosity.

Happy birthday Hailey Schnittgen! Liz Goulet gains one the 21st; Kristi Kline the 22nd, and Becky Blake the 25th.

Ann McKnight picked a 3-7 and a 5-7; Chris Drew a 5-8-10; Julie Mariani 5-6; Ted Azure 4-6; Jackie Mayer 3-6-7-10; Ang Pizzini 3-5 and 5-7; and this one a 5-10.

Lisa Morrell shot a nice 235 and 550 for the highs. Barb DeRosa had a 221, 512; Tami Carlson a 511; and Dianne Watson a 507.

Mike Sherrill had a 248 and Tracy Job a 632. Mike's series was 594 and Tracy had a 236 game. Ken Riska shot a 231, 586; Kelly Hanson 226; Dave Wolf 234, 610; Dave Hamilton 582; and Ed Boucher a 580.

Thanks to everyone who thought of us this past week. I know I've said it before but I'll say it again - Thurs. AM - “ you're simply the best.”
