Is there life after bowling?

It's Tuesday night, the time when I would be putting the finishing touches on Kegler's Korner. It's a habit. I'm

addicted. I'm having withdrawal symptoms. What else should I be doing?

It has been one week since I received the devastating news about the closing of Hi- Line Lanes. I only thought of the adults at that time and what it would do to a lot of them, including myself. How selfish of me.

The youth program - kids crying, asking questions, wondering what they will do and being unable to answer them. The program last year had more than 100 local children participating on Saturdays and Sundays. The kids' three tournaments had large turnouts and adults bowling with them who do not normally do so. Parents who do not bowl regularly showed up to bowl with their kids. It was a family time.

How many parents skateboard - for one easy example - with their kids? Bowling is truly a family sport.

Now back to last Tuesday. I do not know if you are aware of what happened and I will not go into the details. You will hear of it sooner or later. The events that took place in the destruction of the bar were clearly wrong, childish and very juvenile. I thought we were adults, not vandals. I hope those of you that were involved in this have thought about what you did and will never think about doing it again.

If you had thought clearly at the time, you might have realized doing what you did would only slow the selling of the business. I do not think anyone would be very impressed by what they would see.

Do you want Hi-Line Lanes to reopen? I do. I want to bowl.

No matter what you think of the present owners and what has happened, please remember - someday soon, I hope, someone will purchase and reopen Hi- Line Lanes.

As to the question - yes, there is life after bowling - but I can't seem to function without it. It's the people you see, the exercise you get, and the enjoyment.

Eventually Kegler's Korner, along with myself, will again arise from the ashes.
