Havre will have a chance Saturday morning to thank Montana Army National Guard members who recently returned from service in Iraq.
A parade will begin at the Holiday Village Shopping Center at 10 a.m. and travel down First Street to Fifth Avenue, then turn right and end at Fifth Avenue Christian Church, parade organizer Stephanie Ford said Tuesday.
About five service members recently returned from serving with the 1-163rd Infantry, Ford said. She's asking the public to come out and show its appreciation.
“We would really like to see people line the streets with flags and signs. Anything to show their thanks,” Ford said. The service members who have gone overseas have made huge sacrifices for their country, she added.
She said she could not identify the soldiers by name.
Other soldiers who returned from Iraq in recent months also are welcome to participate in the parade, she said. Guard members who served with the 639th Quartermaster Company returned from a tour in Iraq in March.
The soldiers and their families will ride at the front of the parade. The Havre Police and Fire departments will participate, and businesses are invited to join in on the celebration.
Ford can be reached at 265-8346.
