The 2005 football awards were passed out recently and, even though the Havre Blue Ponies' season ended in disappointment, they were still well-represented on the 2005 Central A all-conference football team.

Three Ponies made first-team all-conference. Six players were awarded second-team honors, and three players received honorable mention.

Cody Seely was named first-team all-conference for both center and defensive end. Seely also was the only Blue Pony to receive Class A all-state honors, which he earned for playing center. Pony players last week picked Seely as Best Varsity Lineman for the Ponies.

Other first-team all-conference selections were outside linebacker Austin Small, who was the team's leading tackler. Small was named the Ponies' Best Varsity Defensive Player. Kicker Bruce Beecher was also named to the all-conference first team.

The Ponies' second-team all-conference selections were led by Mark Larson, who led the team in rushing and was second in the team in tackles. Larson was selected at both tailback and inside linebacker. In addition, Larson was named the Blue Ponies' Offensive Player of the Year.

Other second-team all-conference selections for the Blue Ponies included offensive guard Chris Buskirk, who also captured the Ponies' award for Most Improved Varsity Player, cornerback Drue Ita and punter Kyle Finneman. Senior Sean Peterson was honored as both a safety and return specialist, and Evan Hinebauch also earned second- team all-conference honors at both running back and defensive tackle, as well as taking home the 2005 Pony Pride Award.

Offensive tackle Brice Molitor, outside linebacker Jared Weigel and safety Scott Miller also received all-conference honorable-mention honors.

Other awards passed out by the Blue Ponies were: Best JV Offensive Player, Finneman; Best JV Defensive Player, Kyle Rummel; Most Improved JV Player, Robert The Boy; Best Freshman Offensive Player, Paul Jensen; Best Freshman Defensive Player, Adam Briese; and Most Improved Freshman Player, Jarret McLain.
