MARY ANN DION obituary

Mary Ann Dion, 81, of Havre died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later time at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Federal Way, Wash.

Mary was born March 16, 1924, in Dodge, N.D., to Joseph and Magdalena (Kletzel) Bleile. As a young child, she moved with her family to Helena for a short time. They returned to Dickenson, N.D., where Mary Ann was educated. She lived with her brother in Anaconda when she was a teenager.

She met Oliver Charles Dion and they were married Aug. 22, 1941, in Deer Lodge. They made their home in Anaconda. Her husband served in World War II and Mary moved to Havre to stay with Oliver's parents, Fredrick and Elizabeth Dion. After Oliver's honorable discharge, the couple moved to Kremlin, where they farmed for four years. Oliver then went to work for the railroad and the couple moved back to Havre. Oliver retired after 35 years on the railroad and the couple moved to Selma, Ore., and then near Oliver's brother in Auburn, Wash. Mary Ann resided in Auburn after Oliver's death and returned to Havre in October of 2003.

Mary Ann enjoyed bowling, cooking, gardening and was known for her homemade pies.

Mary worked at the Elks Club as a chef for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oliver Charles Dion; son, James Leslie Dion; seven brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include her brothers, Joseph Bleile of Bellingham, Wash., and George Bleile of Anaconda; daughter, Carol Ann Milne of Merlin, Ore.; sons, David Allen Dion of Maple Valley, Wash., and Charles Edward Dion of Hindsville, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Memorials in Mary Ann's honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2900 12th Ave. N., Suite 4E, Billings, MT 59101.

Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
