An autopsy found that smoke inhalation caused the death of Angel Lynn Denny, a 15-year-old Hays-Lodge Pole junior whose body was found in a home that burned to the ground last weekend, the Blaine County coroner said Thursday.

Coroner Marvin Edwards said the state crime lab performed the autopsy on Sunday in Missoula.

Bruce Denny Sr., Angel's father, said today he has not learned any new information from the FBI, which is investigating the incident.

Denny said earlier this week that the fire burned the home of a relative, where Angel and high school friends were gathered early Saturday. The other kids were able to escape and tried to help Angel get out, he said.

FBI special agent Bob Wright said earlier this week that the agency is coordinating an investigation with Fort Belknap authorities. He could not be reached for comment this morning.

State fire marshal Dick Swingley was unavailable for comment.

Angel, whose Indian name "Wiyaga Ska" means White Feather, was laid to rest on Wednesday after a funeral Mass at the Medicine Bear Lodge.
