The home track was friendly to the Malta High track team on Thursday night. The Mustangs and M-Ettes swept their respective team titles at the Malta Athletic Club Invitational.
The Malta boys scored a whopping 181.5 points to outdistance second-place Havre, which scored 98.5.
The Mustangs got multiple wins from Kevin Hanson in the 100 and 200 and the long and triple jumps, while Deric Welch won the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Malta also got wins from Curtis Darrah in the 800, Colter Schwen in the 1,600 and wins in the 400 and 1,600 relay.
In the girls division, Malta scored 140 team points, while Havre finished second with 99. Chinook was third with 67 points.
Senior Scott Robinson took home the Pony boys' only individual title with a time of 54.75 in the 400-meter dash. Robinson added a third-place finish in the long jump.
Fellow senior Tom Knudson had a solid day, finishing second in the 110 hurdles and a third in the 300 hurdles.
Cody McLean finished second in the pole vault, clearing 12-06 - his best height of the season. Sprinter Derek Verploegen finished third in the 200 and fourth in the 100, while Marcus Campbell was third in the 3,200 and sixth in the 1,600.
Hays-Lodge Pole's Jordan Wing took home the 3,200 title with a time of 11:18.88.
The M-Ettes girls were paced by senior Roshon Nordlund, who won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and the 100 and 300 hurdles. Teammate Brittany Allen won the long and high jumps, while Kelly Pankratz took home the title in the 3,200.
Havre got a win the 400-meter relay with a time of 54.75, edging Chinook.
Sophomore Lena Suek led the way individually winning the discus with a toss of 123-9. Suek also grabbed second-place finishes in the javelin and shot put and a fifth in the pole vault.
Kelsey West added a second-place finishes in the 100 and 200, while sister Cammie was fifth in the 100 and sixth in the triple jump. Darci Briere added a third in the 1,600 and a fourth in the 800, while fellow distance runner Kelsey Malsam finished fourth in the 3,200 and sixth in the 1,600. Carmen Neuens picked up thirds in the high jump and long jump.
Chinook junior Crystal Roseberry paced the Beeters with a win in the triple jump, a second in the long jump and a third in the 100-meter dash. Brittany Williams took home the shot put title, and finished second in the discus.
The Ponies will split up this weekend with the girls heading to Great Falls for the Optimist Invitational on Saturday, while the boys will be in Butte for the Swede Dahlberg Invitational.
