The city is encouraging Havreites to "Get 'er Done."
Havre Mayor Bob Rice and friend Robert Floren, who owns Hill County Printing, were talking one day when Rice mentioned an idea for a new city slogan. Floren offered to print up bumper stickers carrying the slogan, and the words can now be found pasted on vehicles throughout Havre.
Rice said deputy public works director Gary Schaub came up with the slogan one day. The city has also made "Get 'er Done" T-shirts for city employees.
Floren said he printed the 500 stickers for free because he likes the idea. The stickers are meant to encourage citizens to be active in the community, he said.
"(Rice and I) thought it was a good way of promoting Havre," Floren said. "I support that hard-working ethic for people around town. Put everything into the community that you can. It's a community thing, a Havre thing."
Rice said one business owner, Golden Spike owner Tammy Farmer, asked him for a stack of the stickers, and he's been inundated with requests for them.
"I haven't been actively leaving them anyplace," he said. "People have been calling me a lot and asking for them. That's how they got out there."
Floren said he hopes the stickers encourage people to participate in activities, like the Havre Pride community cleanup, that improve the city.
"I hope the community gets behind everything like that, and we all get 'er done," he said.
Even though they have his name on them, Rice said the stickers are not campaign stickers. He is serving the final year of his first term as mayor, but he hasn't decided if it will be his only one or if he will seek re-election. He has applied for another job in town, he said.
The deadline for filing for election with the Hill County Clerk and Recorder's Office is June 30.
"I've still got a whole month to think about it," Rice said. "I enjoy my job, and I'm still weighing all of my options. I get a lot of calls from people encouraging me to run."
Havre City Council member Pam Hillery has filed to run for mayor on the Democratic ticket.
The "Get 'er Done" stickers can be found at the Golden Spike or at City Hall.
