Ryan Wells might be one of the youngest competitors when he gets behind the wheel of his super stock race car, but he is proving to be one of most successful as well.

The Hingham native dominated his recent race at the Electric City motor speedway, outdueling last year's state champion, Curt Popham, undefeated racer Pacer Popham and Cal Rossner to secure his first career win. Wells led all 20 laps and held off some fierce competition.

However, this wasn't Wells' only solid showing. Earlier this year, he finished third in a 23-car shootout at the Gallatin International Speedway in Bozeman.

He also picked up a second-place showing in Sheridan, Wyo. Wells is steadily climbing up the ranks at BMP Speedway in Billings.

Wells could very well finish in the top 5 in points in the end of the season standings in the super stock car division.

Ryan, and his father, Russell Wells, keep all the maitenance on his No. 5 race car. The car features several local sponsors, including Haas Farms, Hayden Overhead Doors, Toner's Tire-Rama in Rudyard, Montana In-Touch, Doc's Auto, McNair Furniture, Wood Enterprises, Blue Sky Heating and Air Conditioning, Calcana Radiant Heaters, Culligan and the Kelly Inn.
