In a weekend filled with conference games, several volleyball teams continue to position themselves in their respective conference standings.
In District 6C, the Chester/J-I Hi-Line Hawks remained undefeated in conference play, picking up a pair of wins on the weekend. The Hawks scored a big 25-13, 25-19, 25-23 road sweep over Sunburst on Thursday. Hannah Pimley racked up 27 kills and five digs to lead the Hawks. Jackie Alisch added four aces and five digs in the win.
Chester/J-I moved to 10-0 in conference Saturday with a 25-13, 25-14, 25-13 win over rival North Star High School in Chester. Pimley continued her solid play with 10 kills and six blocks. Brianne Wolfe had a solid match with six kills and six digs.
North Star was led by Tasha Dyrland, who had four kills and five blocks. The Knights did manage a split on the weekend, having defeated Hays-Lodge Pole 25-9, 25-9, 25-14 on Thursday in Hays to improve their record to 4-5 in conference. Dyrland had seven kills, while Courtney Wendland added six aces and four digs.
The Chinook Sugarbeeters remained entrenched in second place in 6C, grabbing a pair of wins on the weekend and moving to 7-1 in conference play.
Chinook cruised past Valier in straight sets 25-12, 25-20, 25-20 in Chinook on Friday. Erin Eslick racked up 12 kills and Crystal Roseberry dished out 25 assists in the match.
The Beeters had little trouble defeating Box Elder 25-8, 25-15, 25-11 on Saturday in Chinook. Morgan Obie had six kills, while Gen Burkhartsmeyer served up 11 of Chinook's whopping 25 aces.
Box Elder was led by Tasha Parisian's five kills and five aces.
Elsewhere in District 6C, the Big Sandy Pioneers picked up a pair of wins to move to 7-2 in conference play. The Pioneers defeated Box Elder 25-8, 21-25, 25-13, 25-7 and Rocky Boy 25-21, 25-8, 25-16.
Shersteen Cline had a solid weekend with five kills, six aces and two blocks against Rocky Boy. Kacy Herron racked up 31 assists in two matches. Rocky Boy was led by Courtney St. Pierre, who had 14 digs and two aces.
The Morning Stars did pick up a tough 18-25, 12-25, 25-22, 25-17, 15-11 nonconference win over Class B Harlem on Friday in Rocky Boy. Tori Belcourt led Rocky Boy with nine kills and four blocks, while St. Pierre was solid again with 17 digs and six aces.
Harlem was led by Leandra Thomas, who had eight kills and 13 digs.
The Wildcats lost their other two matches of the weekend, falling to Plentywood on Thursday, 25-8, 25-9, 25-18, in Harlem. Thomas led the way for Harlem with eight digs, four kills and two aces.
On Saturday, Harlem fell to Shelby, 25-18, 25-16, 25-18, in Harlem. Danielle Dirden led the Wildcats with eight kills, six assists and five blocks.
