The Havre High wrestling team had a very successful first night on its three-day road trip. The Ponies easily outdistanced Central A rivals Butte Central and Belgrade in dual action in Butte on Thursday night.
Havre rested several of its key wrestlers in preparation for the Mining City Duals, which get under way today at Butte High School. However, neither the Panthers nor the Maroons were a match for the Ponies.
At 112 pounds, Tony Bleak picked up a win for HHS against Belgrade, and Beau LaSalle earned an easy victory at 135 pounds. LaSalle pinned Belgrade's Ryan Schmidt early in the second period.
Havre also got a pair of pins from steadily improving freshman Aaron Olson at 145 pounds. Chris Buskirk, Philip Sutherland, Ethan Hinebauch, Kevin Hentchel, Clint Bradbury, Jeff Crawford, Spencer Ivers and Paul Jensen all earned at least one victory on the night as well.
Havre High will open pool competition today at the Mining City Duals. The Ponies will take on Corvallis, Colstrip and Great Falls High. Havre won the event last year.
