ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Anthony Wendel Keller, 94, died in his sleep Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, in Albuquerque, N.M.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Sunset View Mortuary at Colusa and Fairmount Avenue in El Cerrito, Calif., followed by a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cornelius Church, 225 28th St. in Richmond, Calif.
Anthony was born Dec. 23, 1910, in a village near Odessa, Russia, to John and Magdalena Keller. The family immigrated to America in 1911, settling first in Collyer, Kan., and then on a farm north of Havre. He graduated from Havre High School and a California technical institute. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He moved to Richmond, Calif., where he lived until 2003.
He was a kind and loving son, brother, husband, father and friend, who was known for his dedication to family, community and church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1936 and was twice grand knight of Council 2741. He was a past president and member since 1945 of IBEW Local 360 in Oakland, an employee of the Southern Pacific Railroad from 1945-75, and an active parishioner of St. Cornelius Church since 1948.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mildred Frederickson, in 2003.
Survivors include his son, Anthony (Lynn) Keller of Danville, Calif.; daughter, Marlene (Christian) Fritz of Albuquerque; sister, Barbara Weinman of the Seattle area; and numerous family members.
Memorials can be made to St. Cornelius Church or a person's favorite charity.
