Havre Pride community cleanup is set for April 30

Community members will be asked to come together on April 30 to clean up the town during the spring Havre Pride campaign.

The effort will run from 9 .m. to noon and will be directed by the Havre Pride committee of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce.

It's also intended to educate people on the subject of litter and community pride.

Organizers suggest that before people set out to clean up Havre, they stop by the Vets Club for breakfast. The Shriners are hosting breakfast that morning, with proceeds going to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

During the cleanup, business owners and managers are asked to clean up the areas around their stores while community volunteers cover the city, picking up loose trash along streets and highways that has collected through the winter.

The trash redemption sites for the spring cleanup will be located between Sixth and Fifth avenues by Sixth Avenue Memorial Field, beside the Havre Fire Department and in Highland Park at the Kum & Go. Coupons donated by local businesses will be given for each 20-gallon bag of street trash picked up and redeemed at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field dump site.

People or organizations that would like to take part in the communitywide spring cleaning can call Kim Cripps at 265-4353.

Trash bags can be picked up the morning of Havre Pride starting at 9 a.m. at the south end redemption site. Household trash will not be accepted.

Volunteer help is needed to staff each of the dump sites.
