Golf leagues battle storms and mosquitoes

Stormy weather, heat and mosquitoes - it must be June golf in Havre. That means the first half of the men's golf league season is now in the books.

Tuesday night saw everything hold to form as Wagner Plumbing finished in first place for the first half of the season with a whopping 214 points. Wagner Plumbing will be joined by U.S. Bank, Stockman Bank and Hole 19 in the playoffs in early September.

This past Tuesday also saw the Anderson-Schubert Agency team earn high-team honors with an astounding 28 points. The team is composed of Rick Ervin, Jerry Schubert, Paul Teel and Jim Wirt.

Trent Normandy fired a stellar four-under par 32 to easily take home low-gross honors. Tim Keating, Russ Earl and Cal Loudermilk all shared low-net honors with a 30.5.

Wednesday night's action was called after three holes due to a wicked thunderstorm rolled through the area (as yours truly can attest to).

That meant that Stone Child College held on to the top spot and finished in first place for the first half of the season. Second place went to defending league champion Michelob Light while Havre Ford finished in third place followed by Barkus Home Center.

The second half of the men's league season will get under way next Tuesday night. Serv Ur Self Furniture has the bye on Tuesday and D.A. Davidson is out on Wednesday night.
