The Havre High volleyball team made short work of its short trip to Fort Benton on Thursday night. The Blue Ponies easily handled the Class B Longhorns in three straight games to run their overall record to 9-2 on the season.

Havre defeated Fort Benton by scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-18.

The Ponies were battling a bit of team sickness coming into the match, but obviously showed no ill-effects as they got off to a torrid pace, trouncing the Longhorns 25-16 in the opening game.

Havre continued its dominant play by allowing Fort Benton just 10 points in the the second game and then putting the Longhorns away for good in the third game.

The Ponies got a very balanced night offensively from Lena Suek and Sjanette D'Hooge.

Both players had 10 kills on the night and combined for 20 of Havre's 34 total kills. D'Hooge also had Havre's only block on the night and Suek led the Ponies in digs with nine.

Havre continued its dominant service game as they pounded out 18 aces as a team. Senior Alexa Lipp led the way with five of them and fellow senior Keelie Solomon added four. Lipp also paced the Ponies with 29 assists and Solomon added six digs.

Fort Benton got a solid all-around night from Nikki Bailey in a losing effort. Bailey had seven of the Longhorns 14 kills and their only two blocks. Carol' Ann Spaabeck had three aces and five digs on the night.

The Blue Ponies are now 9-2 overall and 4-0 in Central A conference play. Havre will continue to face Class B competition when it takes on District 1B powerhouse Cut Bank next Thursday in Cut Bank.
