Bear Paw Lumber has nearly finished filling a 5,000-square-foot expansion it began in June with merchandise.

The store will host an open house Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“The grand opening is our way of introducing all the new products we are carrying, including flooring materials, cabinets, expanded plumbing, hardware and electrical, as well as the new look and feel of our store after the remodel,” Bear Paw Lumber owner David Lohse said.

The construction project included identical additions to the east and west ends of the building, with the intention of displaying products purchased through Home Dcor that Bear Paw Lumber is adding to its inventory, Lohse said. Besides the expanded showroom, the east wing will house office space.

“The remodel has drawn a lot of attention for its architectural aspects as well as what it has done for the interior of our store,” Lohse said.

Each of the new wings has a roof-top solarium, adding natural light to the building's interior.

Bear Paw has provided building supplies to the Hi-Line since 1976. In 2002, Bear Paw Lumber joined Do It Best Corp., a member-owned hardware, lumber and building materials buying cooperative.

The store is located at 2445 U.S. Highway 2 N.E. in Havre.
